No idea what the unusual album title might mean but Le Man Avec Les Lunettes - in their first visit across the threshold at Bluesbunny Towers - are from Italy and these 9 tracks proved to be an interesting diversion. It is a bit like tweepop without the lo-fi limitations but the simple songs are matched here by some interesting arrangements that tantalise the ears.

This band has a happy sound and the opening track, "The Happy Birth of You and Me" positively sparkles as it escapes the confines of your speakers. Likewise, "A Summer Song" bounces about the room like a happy puppy eager to please your ears with captivating sixties style vocal harmonies. The sixties feel continues with the neo psychedelic "Nothing Is Really Blue". Certainly this band easily bear comparison to the higher echelons of tweepop like One Happy Island or The Lorimer Sound but they also have successfully captured the retro feel that has become part and parcel of mainstream popular music.

Altogether a likeable album with much to commend it. The performances have a deft, surefooted touch to them that neatly anchors the light and fluffy songs to the ground. A most pleasing confection that you will want to return to time and time again.
