We like our vinyl here at Bluesbunny Towers. Everybody knows that. We also like the big, swaggering, horn laden songs that can be found on them. You also get other types of music on vinyl as this release from Paperplain shows.

The songs here are so slight that they barely seem to be there. Held together with wisps of guitar and whispering vocals, "11.30" is surely part of the soundtrack to bedsit land. The lyrics are odd and worryingly cute. You think it might be full of references to experiences under illegal substances but what song of debauchery and deranged experimentation includes phrases like "it just made my tummy ache".

Keeping it company is "Spin Wheel". Also so light it might well float away in the slightest of breezes, the plaintive female vocals drift through a student style love song. Ah, to be young again…

The funny thing is that I actually ended up liking these songs. They are not wildly different or anything like that but they sort of grow on you and you get to like having them about - much like some women I could mention.
