We seek them here, we seek them there, we seek master popsters everywhere. This time, we found them in St Louis, Missouri in the form of Bunnygrunt. There are but four songs on this EP but that is more than enough to convince us of this band's merits.

Things kick off with a delightful cover of the classic "Tonight You Belong to Me" complete with genuine 78rpm sound. But it is soon enough of that calculated politeness, as Bunnygrunt launch into a spirited piece of noise indie pop called "1000% Not Creepy" with way too much energy to fit on to the tiny 3 inch CD that houses it. It's a damn fine song too and the urge to sing along and dance (badly) is soon upon us. That one stops suddenly and throws us into our musical seatbelt as we encounter a reverential cover of Warren Zevon's "Carmelita". A song about lowlifes seems an odd choice for a clean living indie band but they make it work. Mind you, the closing track on this EP - "Where Eagles Dare" - did seem similar lyrically with its theme of obsession and love but in a more sixties' drama pop, Shangri-Las style. Bluesbunny was pleased to have finally got the opportunity to review these fine purveyors of pop.

Packaged, as always, in a beautiful hand finished cardboard sleeve, this is another very welcome (limited!) release from Wee Pop! Records.
