It is always nice to hear new music and Doeray - Angharad Evans and Nina Leighton – make for pleasant listening with their five song debut EP “Episode One”.

And five songs are what you get here with an unexpected lyrical maturity – neither of the duo has yet to make 20 years on this planet – lifting their music towards your ears and rewarding you with easy on the ear harmonies whilst providing enough substance to keep your brain interested.

Of the songs, “After All” and “Too Far Gone” stand out. “After All” sounds like something Alela Diane would have been proud to produce – I like Alela Diane – and “Too Far Gone” hints compellingly of an elegance yet to come with the voices of Ms. Evans and Ms. Leighton working especially well together.

Not bad for a debut. Not bad at all.

The EP is available from Bandcamp.
