The spirit of rock and roll will never die even if it often seems that the only place that you will find its once bright spark today is in alternative cabaret. That takes me neatly to Mojo Juju and a perfect example of that rock ‘n’ roll cabaret style song called “Must Be Desire”. It takes but a few bars to sense the Elvis fixation with a mean, moody attitude sitting on top of the polished yet primitive backing track. If this song were wine then you would feel the urge to describe it as evoking the smells of poorly lit streets and unclear intentions with undertones of malicious intent.

Flipping over to the other side of this vinyl single will provide your rears with a rather polite and mannered version of everybody’s favourite country mass murder song “Psycho” that seems so unthreatening that it might well be considered a pastiche.

Naturally it is a vinyl thing too so spin these two up to 45rpm at your leisure.
