Bluesbunny might well be a city boy but he likes a bit of country in his music. This new release from Veronica Leigh proved to be a most enjoyable listen. Like many modern country artists these days, she strays well into pop music territory. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

Best tracks were "Nothing Good Stays the Same" and "I'm There" - two slices of tasty, radio-friendly pop. Dan Dugmore's contribution on pedal steel to "Is it Ok to Cry Now" is also notable and gives the song a suitably melancholy feel. "Girls Night Out" is a jolly, sing along number whilst the title track "Outlawed Angel" has a harder, rock, sound. Ms Leigh, to her credit, handles fast and slow songs with equal aplomb.

She has a nice, commercial approach to songwriting (and production) and a very appealing voice. Maybe we are getting a bit sentimental in our old age but this good natured album worked for us. Mind you, we do have a bit of a sweet tooth but we think you will enjoy it too. Available from CD Baby.
