Glasgow based singer songwriter Laura Healy has put together a four track EP of polished acoustic based songs.  In essence it is Americana, albeit with a Scottish twist giving it a rather grittier sound.  The first three numbers are all mid tempo with the Joni Mitchell influenced and slightly faster paced "The Untouchable" being the pick of the bunch, although the title track "Chasing Rainbows" is not far behind.

The best is kept to last with the slower paced and contemplative "Cobwebs".  This is a gem of a song with insightful lyrics that invoke the sights, sounds and even the smells of cleaning out a large dusty house - not so much windmills of the mind as a spring clean of the mind, metaphorically speaking, to allow a fresh start.  Hopefully we will be hearing more from Ms Healy in the future, and this EP certainly provides a solid foundation for her to build upon. Available by mail order worldwide from CD Baby.
