Another night, another soundtrack to the urban apocalypse… TH/S /S SH/T return to pump up the bass with more techno rock musical muscle power. Wordless as ever, their “//” EP is something of a thundering behemoth high on angularity and full on force.

Subtlety was never being to go be an expectation from this French band and, with the dancefloor and the extended palette of club land self-expressionism seeming to be their core motivations, the room soon shakes and spins in sympathy. The songs themselves, however, have both presence and purpose and, although the link between title and song is never made obvious, the brutal synthetic nature of all that is here is at least tempered by some organic sampling in “///”.

As with their previous EP, “//” seems as much for the club as after and would indeed again make a soundtrack for the right brand of car. The car would still have to be black though. Nothing else would seem right.
