Whilst many bands look backwards for the musical inspiration these days, it takes more than a bit of style to make those sounds of yesterday convincing in the anaesthetised aesthetic of modern day music. Fortunately, Maiorano do just that with their album “Glorious Days”.

Fuelled with endless enthusiasm, this album is a steamroller of brass laden songs that are designed to entice you out of your armchair and on to the very same beer soaked dance floor that your parents told you about back in the day. “Glorious Days” is also a cohesive album that some might dismiss as yet more spirited revivalism but it is more than that for Alex Maiorano leads the band forward like a pied piper on a mission to make the world a better place and it is therefore no surprise that song after song accelerates down the road right into your playlist with “Cani Neri” and “A Little Bit Closer” scoring more than sufficient points to make you believe that you have acquired the soundtrack to an adventure.

“Glorious Days” is an album like they used to make and, like the Blues Brothers once did, Maiorano makes you believe that everybody has got soul within them. Dance on, as the white soul boys say.
