So much music but so little time. That, my friends, is the curse that befalls all that write words on the musical efforts of others. That and the lack of free beer in the world. The world would be a much better place with free beer. Anyway, that’s enough of the philosophical ramblings as there are words to be written on Australian band Animal Hands and their self-titled EP.

The first words on their EP duly must reflect on the retro sound as the ghost of grunge clearly drive this band towards their sonic nirvana and it is maximum downstroke riffs all the way through these five songs. It’s not new but it is well executed. However, it is the laconic to the point of casual malevolence voice of Danielle Whalebone that provided the signature that signed the deal and that very fact is clearly inked in blood by their song “Defiance".

Four songs isn’t much to judge a band by but, on the basis of this EP, Animal Hands have got the attitude, and the sound, right for forward motion.
