This is good-time rocking Americana from the inventively named Wicked Liz & the Bellyswirls.  They are now on their 3rd release, and it shows with an accomplished performance from all concerned.  They don't hang around either and launch straight in to full flow with the two openers: "Up & Down" is a real storming track to get us up and running and certainly one of the highlights, while "Pico", although slightly more restrained, is another fine piece of alternative country.

With the classy, passionate and more sedate mid-tempo "9am" they show they have more than one string to their bow.  The same could be said of "Break Me" where, somewhat curiously, they slip in and out of a Blondiesque persona.  They save the best for last however with "I Believe", a real gem with its organ-driven gospel coloured sound.  A great close to the album.

This is rootsy, gutsy, honest music from the heartlands.  It may not be for everyone; however it is real music for real people.
