Some bands are merely the sum of their influences. Others take their influences and make them into a brand new blend.  Scarlet Blue have many influences such as the Clash and the Jam with more than a hint of the Spencer Davis Band and yet manage to create something new and interesting. This is good time music. Loud and brash, they perform with conviction.

Pleasingly free of sugary sentiments, they set out on a journey to bring down the walls of Jericho. "Crazy Hazy Days" is a slice of the kind of music that would surely storm the American rock charts (and fill the average stadium as well) with a blistering guitar solo. "The Law is Against Us" would have made Joe Strummer proud. "City Boy Challenges" and "Bullet in the Soul" highlight lead singer Martin Elliot's full power vocals. "Just like a Man" is haunted by the memory of Paul Weller's triumphs and is none the worse for that.

Driven along by the classic sound of the Hammond Organ stylings of Ian Gregson, this band provide a refreshing antidote to the sterility of modern music. In true rock and roll fashion as well, this band imploded before they could hit the big time. Just imagine how good that second album would have been.
