You have got to love technology. In terms of the music business, for example, it has allowed bands to resurrect the sounds of the past with computerised ease and present them to the ears of today as new ways to charm and entertain. Certainly, Krayne have utilised this technology fully on their EP “Strike” with all their retro inspirations being worn proudly as a badge on their collective sleeve.

However, Krayne are not a lazy band and have not simply limited themselves to one period in the timeline of pop music past glories. There are indeed many instances of pulsating synth lines permeating these songs and there is even the – still trendy even today – halftime Ice style raps yet “Strike” isn’t just a compendium of parts from the past as the songs are much stronger than the norm with “Need 2 Please You” and “Coming Home” both being easily capable of bothering both the charts of the eighties and the charts of today.

Retro does seem to be the sound of the trendsetters of today but Krayne have not forgotten that, at the end of the day, it all about the song and it is their neatly structured songs that keep this EP in your memory.
