When you see the word demo, you have an expectation that the songs will be rough and ready in their presentation. Then again one person’s demo is another’s assault with a sonic weapon as it is all in the detail. Frau – an all female punk band from London – don’t really do detail, or melody for that matter, but they do manage to, very convincingly, punch you repeatedly about the head.

This EP is a ferocious assault of 10 short rounds from a deadly quartet of female trouble. The longest you will last is the 1 minute and 44 seconds of “Nada” and that nihilistic compressed drama would scare the most casual of cats. Likewise, you will be barely a breath over the minute mark before “High Heels” stomps you into the ground leaving you unable to escape the militaristic chanting of “Paris”.

Is it good or is it bad? Although it might well depend on how you like your punk, I would have to say good but it doesn’t really matter as listening to these songs is, to use a quaint Americanism, like getting your ass kicked.

As the title of the EP suggests, this is a cassette release although you can also download it from Bandcamp.
