  The BluesBunny Ratings System

So what do those carrots at the end of our reviews actually mean? This is a question we are often asked. In the interests of clarity and for the avoidance of doubt, here is what they mean.

Music causes wailing, gnashing of teeth and violence towards the offending CD. Another addition to the beer mat collection if it survives being thrown across the room. So bad, it's bad. Or it might be rap music.

Music contains more plastic than the CD it came on. Possibly the result of a multinational marketing department or a television show, there might well be a song in there somewhere but certainly no album. Must try harder - a lot harder.

Now we are getting somewhere. There will be redeeming qualities on show. Several of the tracks may well be good. Merit can be found in the performance and musicianship. Worth of purchase if the price is right or you like their style.

4 carrots

With this rating, we are in the zone. There will certainly be merit in the performance and perhaps even originality on show. No question that you will have to buy this album. A strange urge to tell strangers about the album will overcome us. We start planning which beer will best match the music.

5 carrots

5 carrots means we have found an album that reminds us why we should be listening to music. Involving, captivating or whatever you want to call it. You end up playing the album all the time. You leave the windows open so people walking down the street below can be introduced to the music. You bore your friends by talking about the album. All the time. Music as it is meant to be done. A recommended purchase.
