Cassette time again. Lo-fi cassette time at that. That’s no bad thing, however, when you have the songs to sing and wherewithal to transcend the limitations of very nearly everything. Fortunately for us, Yorkshire’s grungy poppettes Crumbs can tick both the preceding boxes.

Guitar powered garage rock has been the gro-bag for many a band over the years and Crumbs draw heavily on this oft used musical fertiliser for their stylistic motivation but they also have the kind of shout it out loud and proud post punk lyrical sensibilities that gives their songs brain impact with “Tiptoes and “Stockport Syndrome” being considerably smarter than their production budget would suggest.

The cherry on the cake is the sense of fun that Crumbs bring to the dancefloor. They’ve got something to say but they also appreciate that entertainment is often a more effective way of getting the message across than a beating with the sensitivity stick.

Available, as a download and a limited edition pink cassette, from Bandcamp.
