I don’t know about you but I like a bit of commercial pop music every now and then to balance my excessive consumption of the offbeat and the just plain quirky. That’s not to say that Bon-Bon’s EP “She Don’t Want To Know” is mundane but more that it is a clever distillation of those female singers that have bypassed passport control and made in into the mainstream.

So, as Bon-Bon strolls confidently through the her five songs, you can’t therefore help but notice the stylistic tipping of the hat to Kate Nash, Björk and Lykke Li. “Animal”, in particular, highlights her ability to mix common musical metaphors into something that will please most ears in this country. However, her strong point remains the dramatic with “Better Than You Do” easily transcending the cheap as chips production on its journey to the stars.

Overall, Bon-Bon scores enough points to suggest that she could cross the winning line anytime she chooses.
