Northern Ireland punk rock band with a distinctly American flavour, Nerdmore are almost enough to make you declare that you can’t believe it’s not butter. Their – I assume it is a they but the drums are such a robotically clicked parody of the Marky Ramone style that they might not be – self titled EP has more than enough full fat substance in it to mark Nerdmore out as surprisingly commercial songwriters.

Both “The Story of My Life” and “Give Over” tear along at a suitably frenetic pace whilst betraying a downright acerbic outlook on life and “Burned Out Last Night”, whilst probably the best song here,  is so nineties transatlantic that you would have to declare it son of Weezer rather than the son of the Ramones. None of that, however, detracts from the simple fact that these are good songs.

The EP is available from Bandcamp on a name your own price basis.
