Patron Saint of Plagues are a horror rock band and a Canadian horror rock band at that. Being a horror rock band, you might well be expecting something entertaining of their EP “Scary Tales” and you won’t be disappointed.

Throwing themselves in to their songs with theatrical levels of enthusiasm, Patron Saint of Plagues are never less enjoyable as they turn the volume right up and express their post punk meets metal madness energy right into your ears.  The drums thump, the guitars riff and the vocals sound like the product of a sixty a day smoking habit and, in its own over the top way, this collection of songs is actually fun. Deadman Walking”, for example, swaggers like it was four bars from the Rocky Horror Picture Show and “Invader Zim” could easily have been from some European melodic metal band if it were not for the fact that Patron Saint of Plagues sound like they are actually having fun.

Anyway, if your spirits are in need of a lift then maybe you should give Patron Saint of Plagues a chance.

The EP is available from Bandcamp.
