I’ve never lived in a bedsit myself but I would imagine that, if I had made a habit of doing such a thing, I would write songs as introverted as downbeat as Sid and Nancy (who, rather disappointingly, turn out to be a couple of guys from Nottingham) do. If you are looking for a happy song then you won’t find it here.

That said, these are quite decent songs with a nice bit of lyrical self loathing such as “…since the last days of Sodom nothing has changed” (from “No One’s Got It All, And He’s Not Sharing”). Throw a bit of twee pop on an emotional downturn instrumentation and the rather odd use of reverb on the vocals and you get something that sounds like that dusty Leonard Cohen cassette you once bought from a second hand shop.

I’m just not sure that you could actually like this stuff. In fact, I’m not actually sure the intention was to make something that people might like. When all is said and done, this EP is what it is and you might like it or you might not. I suppose it depends on your attachment to the colour black.

The EP is available from Bandcamp.
