Alice Ripley comes across as part diva, part chanteuse and part performance artist - however, the one thing she isn't is boring.  We are treated to an intriguing mix of styles on this five track collection - sometimes all in the same song!  The opening track "Romeo" is basically a straight forward although beguiling pop song that is exceptionally well done.  On the other hand "Counting sheep is a blend of quirkiness and psychedelia; while "Lucky Man" at times seems to be all of the above.

The final track "Humiliating Circumstances" is a bit of an understated gem that shows just how beautiful a voice she has when the instrumentation and 'theatrics' are reduced to the minimum, and there is nowhere left to hide.  It's the sort of song where you either stand or fall on your voice alone - and Ms Ripley is still on her feet.
