There is a saying in Scotland to the effect that the only good thing to come out of Edinburgh is the express train to Glasgow. Perhaps we have now found something else in this 5 track outing from Sacre Noir. Sacre Noir is the creation of Edinburgh based vocalist Carrie McIntyre. Not sure why the credits for this release were in French though.

Electronica (as this music is probably best described) is not usually a BluesBunny favourite but there is a fair amount of it out there so we decided to review this one. Atmospheric to the point of becoming a soundtrack rather than a collection of songs, it was a strangely compelling listen in a sort of Riuchi Sakamoto meets Dracula and the Cocteau Twins on a dark road to nowhere kind of way. The closing track, "Scratching the Surface", is the closest thing to an actual song in that it had a chorus and was (almost) upbeat.

Not entirely sure that we liked this but it did stick inside the BluesBunny head for a long time after we had listened to it. Interesting nonetheless and worthy of investigation.
