In a land far away called Baltimore, there lives a prince called Matt Perszinksi. Besides his own musical adventures as part of The Agrarians, he regularly collaborates with other wizards of weirdness with the alternate warped mind this time being Dave Gibson (of Bad Liquor Pond). The alias in use this time is The New Mystical Troubadours.
Oddly enough, the end result is rather more approachable than Mr Persinkzi's other work. The time warp thing is still prevalent only this time we are only taken back as far as the hippy trippy sixties. There's even vaguely eastern influences on show, especially in "Baccanalia". To try and give some sort of comparison, think of George Harrison in his experimental years. It was also pleasing to note that the sound quality of these recordings was actually quite decent this time. Much as you might expect, the best way to experience these songs is on headphones late at night when you are not quite connected to reality.
As expected really, this is a musical journey where no one really knows where they are going but it is also a journey that I was glad to take with the New Mystikal Troubadours.
