In days gone by the British (we had an Empire then …) deported all our criminals to Australia. Well, it would appear that Canada is exporting its criminals these days and we got one in the shape of Bad Tadd McKenna. He passed his interview by going to the bar and ordering three pints of lager and two double Jack 'n' Cokes for himself. Any man with that kind of disrespect for his liver is welcome at Bluesbunny Towers. He likes it loud and speaks for the independent of mind. We also suspect that he is a closet Bruce Springsteen fan but no one has been brave enough to actually say that out loud to him.
A devout follower of the teachings of Mojo Nixon, Big Peter (as he is commonly known) is the nearest thing to a professional journalist that we have at Bluesbunny. Although admitting to a fondness for bluegrass, Big Peter's ears are open to any music that can be accompanied by beer. Fortunately, most music can be accompanied by beer. When not spending his time with six foot tall, dark haired supermodels, Big Peter is working on a plan to end world poverty. Notoriously affable, he is easily the most sociable Bluesbunny and is happy to discuss all things musical.
They say that a man cannot worship two gods but the Editor can. Torn between the deities of Berry Gordy and Joe Strummer, he struggles to find meaning in it all. He speaks of the glorious day when he first heard "300 Pounds of Heavenly Joy" by seminal Chicago r&b band Big Twist & the Mellow Fellows from a video jukebox (of all things) and knew that the business had changed. Every band had to have visual presence - the music alone was no longer enough. His love of Motown has let him understand that commercial success is no bad thing but it took the Clash to teach him that music must always come from the heart.
When Bluesbunny from Montgomery was born, "How Can I Be Sure" by David Cassidy was No.1 in the charts. Thankfully, he recovered from this early setback to become the musical scholar he is, with tastes as varied as Adam Ant to Zodiac Mindwarp, Amos to Zeppelin and all points between. Always ignoring music genre, and instead basing each review on the important factors (such as KT Tunstall's mobile number being included in the CD package), he looks forward to hearing good melodies, well structured lyrics and interesting production in his headphones!
